Simply said, it works wonderfully. I still keep a bottle in my medicine cabinet. Too bad it can only be labeled as a mouthwash because it truly helps with many maladies. I used it on some mosquito bites just last night.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3408099437107639570.post-68073069866449563802015-04-08T13:59:02.534-05:002015-04-08T13:59:02.534-05:00I don't recall the source, but many years ago ...I don't recall the source, but many years ago I heard this story about the origins of Dr. Tichenor's: During the Civil War, some Confederate surgeons (not necessarily physicians on the battlefields) used whiskey on wounds. At some point, one of them notices that wounds cleaned with whiskey healed better than similar wounds where whiskey was not applied. With whiskey being expensive and difficult to obtain for the Confederate army, one surgeon decided to make a "synthetic" whiskey just for wound treatment use. He came up with a product somewhat similar to Tichenor's. Whether this was George Tichenor or he merely observed it in use and recognized its potential, I have no idea. I do know that growing up in Louisiana in the 1950's, no home was without a bottle of Dr. Tichenor's, "the antiseptic" as we called it. The antiseptic helped me heal innumerable cuts and injuries I incurred in my reckless childhood. We also used it on chigger and mosquito bites where we found it helpful to counter the itching. And it's an effective germ-killing mouthwash, helping with colds. I believe Listerine antiseptic to be a better marketed, less effective and far more diluted copy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3408099437107639570.post-51342032838688614372015-03-12T20:02:07.104-05:002015-03-12T20:02:07.104-05:00I have been drinking a bottle of this wonderful to...I have been drinking a bottle of this wonderful tonic daily since age 30. I highly recommended as I am now 130 years old and in top health. I have 104 children, the youngest of whom is only 4 years old. I attribute my prolific sexual gifts to this blessed concoction as well as to smoking 5 cuban cigars daily.Josehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12854111531445705925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3408099437107639570.post-78174780657854841572014-09-18T19:39:18.230-05:002014-09-18T19:39:18.230-05:00I married Jim Tichenor, born in Newark, NJ, a desc...I married Jim Tichenor, born in Newark, NJ, a descendent of Martin Tichenor, 1646, settled in Newark, NJAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3408099437107639570.post-51642903595577314972014-07-19T04:50:32.070-05:002014-07-19T04:50:32.070-05:00I am in my 50's now and had enjoyed Dr. Tichen...I am in my 50's now and had enjoyed Dr. Tichenor's mouthwash/antiseptic in a higher concentrated form than it is now. I miss the old formula that could genuinely be considered a 5-1 ratio with water. I wonder if that formula could be sold to private individuals. The present formula I find to be 2-1 ratiao with water and no longer a 5-1 ratio.<br />Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3408099437107639570.post-53889902737992150792012-12-29T14:34:19.018-06:002012-12-29T14:34:19.018-06:00Very interesting.
