Some of the bldgs were still there, and I think one or two of them survive today. As I was told, the area was entirely contained between the WW bridge, modern Hwy 80 and modern 49. All of the biggest clubs were directly on Flowood Rd, with a few smaller stores and casinos located along the first block north.

One of the major Jackson papers did a big feature on the Gold Coast, I think on the 20th anniversary of Mississippi's prohibition repeal. Now there's a good reason to stop by the Eudora Welty Library next time I'm nearby.berberryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05343293535493006022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3408099437107639570.post-41404313717685473962013-05-06T17:50:50.591-05:002013-05-06T17:50:50.591-05:00No, actually it's located on the east side of ...No, actually it's located on the east side of the Pearl from downtown Jackson across the Woodrow Wilson bridge, which crosses the Pearl several blocks south of Pearl Street.Jim Woodrickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15917299007746671963noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3408099437107639570.post-63532659373645460412013-05-06T16:27:11.171-05:002013-05-06T16:27:11.171-05:00Jim: This piqued my interest to check Google Maps....Jim: This piqued my interest to check Google Maps. This "gold coast" is now where LeFleur's Bluff State Park is, correct? Or across the river from it? Carroll County, in the areas of "Little Texas", had some on the county line roads of Grenada and Montgomery. All of the "Joints" are no longer there except on US 82 at the Carroll and Montgomery County line which is just decaying away and not operational. The other "Joints" of the era of the 40's and 50's in the county have now been transformed in respectable homes.Mel Corleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16835386915266379648noreply@blogger.com
